Pre-conditions for Wide use of E. Communication

 Telephone penetration : In order to enlarge access to e. commerce at the mass level, telephone penetration should be ensured at a rapid pace.

•   Wiring through optical fibres : It is essential in order to replace availability of internet through telephone which results in recurring telephone bills, slow speed and frequent disconnection.

•   Cyber laws : Cyber laws to govern transactions on the Net is

essential.

•   Combating illiteracy : While illiteracy about e. commerce is a battle which will be fought by the players in the market, illiteracy at the grass root level will have to be tackled on a war footing.

•   Providing cyber retail networks : Networks of retail outlets on the Net, connected through the VSATs (Very small aperture terminals) will provide a viable solution via public browsing points. These outlets will effectively address the PC penetration issue, while the VAST-based network will circumvent across-the-board gaps in the country's infrastructure grid. Such a strategy may take the c. revolution to rural areas, where the potential is enormous.
